Welcome to part 3 of our Beach Buggy Racing 2 Powerup Guide: Winner Whackers. There are only 3 of these Powerups, but they’re particularly useful when you’re trying to catch up from behind. Each of these Powerups targets the person in 1st place (and sometimes the folks around them).
Rare
Pickpocket steals Powerups from the player in 1st place if they have one. If they don’t (or if that’s you), it will try to steal from 2nd place, then 3rd, and so on. There’s a chance it will steal two Powerups, so it’s a good idea to make sure that you have an open Powerup slot when you try to Pickpocket.
If no one else has any Powerups, then you’ll get a Shield that’s the same level as your Pickpocket, so you’ll always get something.
Epic
On its way to crashing the racer in 1st, it’ll fly down the center of the track, crashing anyone caught in its wake. If you’re in 1st place when you fire it, it will travel around the track until it finds someone in 1st who isn’t you. Deployed in this way it can be a delayed defense, crashing cars as it comes back around.
Victim Tip: If you’re in 1st place when you hear the Death Bat’s screech, and you don’t have a powerup that blocks missiles, all you can do is make peace with your impending doom. If you’re behind 1st, try to stay to the edges of the track to avoid the Trail of Death. The Death Bat doesn’t know any shortcuts, so if you do try to take one before the DeathBat can reach you.
Epic
The Big Bang builds up charge and then explodes, creating a universe of pain for 1st place and anyone caught in the Blast Radius (except for you, of course). It also wipes out trees, houses, and any other destructible objects caught in the radius.
Victim Tip: Use a Defense-type Powerup like Shield or a quick Cure while the cosmic orb is still building up. In a pinch, you can use Rocket Boost or Warp Speed to at least get ahead before Big Bang’s bang, so that you recover further down the track. As a last resort, you can at least steer close to other nearby opponents and hope to take them out with you.
